Taba Hilton

Taba Hilton Nothing exciting here just a regular old Hilton Hotel, in Taba, Egypt on the Egyptian/Israeli border. Actually the reason I took a photo of this hotel is because it was the site of a terrorist attack in 2004 that killed 34 people and injured 171. This was the second place I went by on my trip that was the site of a terrorist attack, the first being the US Embassy in Nairobi. Unfortunately after this attack, less Israeli tourists visit this area, which has impacted tourism in this region leaving once thriving places like Nuweiba complete desolate and abandoned.

Some Kind Of Fort

Some Kind Of Fort Not sure what this is but I took if from the bus on the road to Israel. It looked like an Egyptian fort on a tiny island off the coast.

Road to Israel

Road to Israel Photo of where I waited for the bus to the Israeli border in Nuweiba, Egypt. Not really a bus stand more like a desert hooker corner. No signs, nothing, I just had to wave the bus down when I saw it. It was hot as F*** and there was no shade. I was literally standing in the shadow of a pole while waiting for the bus to come which eventually came 30 minutes later.

Soft Camp Lounge Area

Soft Camp Lounge Area The lounge area where I would chill at night at Soft Beach Camp. Luckily this place had wifi otherwise I would have been bored out of my mind. Oh yeah…the food was really good here.

Egyptian Beach Hut

Egyptian Beach Hut The first one in the photo was my hut at Soft Beach Camp. It was as long as I was tall and I slept on a crap foam cushion with a mosquito net over me. The hut was made of plaster and palm leaves and with one gust of wind I’m sure it would be gone. Nonetheless, this place was awesome because it was so desolate so I didn’t mind spending a couple hours a night sleeping in a rustic shit hole on the Sinai peninsula.

A Common Thread

A Common Thread Where to begin….This is a photo of the beach in Nuweiba, Egypt. It’s hard to really see how much trash there was but trust me that place looked like a disaster zone. It literally looked like a hurricane just passed by. The one thing I realized was that I figured out what makes us human…besides the obvious physiological and psychological needs that we share in common, the one common thread that makes us human beings is the amount of trash we create. It was incredibly disturbing knowing that all this trash came from the sea and that one day it will all go back. After...
