Giant Gecko

Giant Gecko Photo of a giant gecko on Koh Chang, Thailand.  To put it in perspective (cause it’s hard to tell by the photograph) – look at the size of it’s body compared to the 2 x 6 wall paneling.  The gecko is clearly larger. I would say that it was about the size of my forearm.  HELLLLLLA big for a lizard.

Poolside

Poolside Across from our guesthouse was a mexican restaurant with a pool…Instead of heading to the beach we choose to spend the day in the pool drinking margaritas and beer.  Lonely Beach, Koh Chang, Thailand.

Loi Krathong Festival

Loi Krathong Festival Back on Koh Chang.  Though I was planning on heading back to the mainland for the Cambodian border, Phil and Serena convinced me to stay for the full moon party.  Since I hadn’t been to one I figured it wouldn’t hurt and though I realized that my visa had expired, the full moon party was something I had to stay for.  The night of the full moon party also happened to be the annual night of Loi Krathong (translates to “Floating Decoration”). The decorations are made out of lotus-shaped containers created by weaving banana leaves together in a particular way, and adding in...

The People You Meet

The People You Meet My chameleon color is yellow…yellow for friendship.  This photo is a picture of an eldery British couple we met on Koh Mak at a random restaurant in the middle of nowhere on the island.  We sat with them for dinner and drinks and had a great time hanging out with them.  The next when we were leaving the island, we took the shuttle from our accommodation across the island to the dock to get take the ferry back to Koh Chang.  To our surprise, when we arrived at the dock we bumped into the eldery couple who came to the dock to bid us farewell. The touching thing about this memory is...

R & R

R & R Chilling on the beach at Monkey Island on Koh Mak, Thailand.

Monkey Island Bungalow

Monkey Island Bungalow My bungalow at Monkey Island on Koh Mak.  This bungalow had an awesome pivot door, a comfy bed and small desk.  Definitely a great place to stay and super super close to the beach.

Toilet Creativity

Toilet Creativity There is always a chance to be creative including on the toilet.  This is hands down the best toilet paper dispenser I have ever seen.  It took me to travel half way around the world on a small island in Thailand to find it.

My Chill Spot

My Chill Spot The way I would chill on Koh Mak, Thailand.

Ahhhhh…

Ahhhhh… Visit Koh Mak in Thailand…’nuff said.

Mikael Blomkvist

Mikael Blomkvist The real life Mikael Blomkvist…ok so probably not exactly since the character in the Dragon Tattoo series was a journalist.  In any case this guy was a Swedish detective traveling by himself in Thailand on holiday.  His wife was traveling separately on her own in India which I thought was pretty interesting.  We sat down with him for a while over drinks and picked his brain which was hella fun and interesting.  He lived near a border town close to Norway and told us about all the different crimes he investigates…basically it came down to, “detective work is not what is...
